Thank you!
I am feeling a lot of gratitude right now, as Trees For Life puts the finishing touches on its most successful spring tree planting season ever. Over 4,500 trees planted, eight public events including an extraordinary tree planting in Calgary supported by Amazon, and The Arbour Day Foundation in the States.
Our green fields are becoming forests right before our eyes, and more than 1,200 volunteers joined us to help to make it happen. If you were one of them, thank you so much. If you have donated to Trees For Life in the last year, thank you for that as well.
As we grow our not-for-profit charity, the demands on our staff have also grown. I would like to welcome two new hires to our organization; Kate Powell now handles all of our tree planting partnerships, and Urshela Riaz joins us to help elevate our communications and administrative details.
Both Kate and Urshela are highly qualified and (we have learned already!) very capable. Come on out to a fall tree planting event and meet them both, as I know, they would love to meet you too.
Plant a tree, thank a hero.
Last month, we launched a special donor-supported program that is helping us plan future urban tree plantings through regular monthly donations. When you give on a regular basis, you not only help us plant more trees where Canadians live, work and play, you also have a special opportunity to honour and thank the heroes in your life.
As a monthly donor you can choose to make your donation in someone’s name. For all donations above $150, we’ll send you personalized certificates that you can share with your honouree(s) or loved ones. These trees are a living legacy dedicated to family, friends, and the heroes in our lives. At the end of the year, we’ll let you know where your hero trees have been planted.
And here’s the really good news. We have matching funds from a private donor who will double your donations. So, when you plant a tree for one of your heroes, you are really supporting the planting of two trees.
We are in talks with a host of municipalities and tree planting organizations across the country who want to join this effort to make Canada a greener, healthier country, and honour the heroes in their town.
And finally, there is still room for you at our Annual Golf Tourney, Thursday Aug. 21, Pheasant Run, Newmarket. We limit players to 120 to keep a steady pace of play (no waiting at the T Box), and the event brings out some very enthusiastic supporters of Trees For Life.

Sponsorship details here and please note that all sponsorship income is matched by the Barrett Family Foundation. The beverage cart and ice cream table sponsorships are now sold!
Come on out, I would love to meet you and thank you personally for your support of Trees For Life.
Yours as ever,
